Betty Ba, also known as Brigitte Bosch

Betty studied history in her hometown of Hamburg and helped build an innovative school with a focus on art, music, and theater. The school was named the best school in the state of Schleswig-Holstein in 2014.

She painted from an early age and loved art. Inside her houses in Reinfeld/Holstein in Germany and in Camon/Ariège in France her own galleries opened their doors.

Since the 1990s, the artist has devoted herself to watercolor painting. At the turn of the millennium, Betty Ba switched artistically to oil and acrylic painting and began to experiment more and more with the application of paint and the materials used. She embarked on the path to abstraction, deepening her knowledge of composition, the nature of forms and the creative power of color. The artist was in search of the essence of things. Her analyses deepened in her exploration of the element of water, to which Betty Ba feels connected. From glistening light, power and dynamism to the abysmal and threatening, she turned her attention to the subject. The visualization of underwater currents through the hardening of liquefied plastic in 2020 marks her preliminary climax. Fundamental themes of human existence also determine the works that arise from inner experience. Always in search of something new, the experimental process becomes the core of artistic expression. This can include vibrations, wild and dynamic or delicate.

2021 she came to the attention of curator Rosi Raneri. Betty Ba subsequently took part in several international exhibitions at the Museo Luigi Bellini in Florence, an excellent location directly on the river Arno. Some of the works of art were on display in the Galleria Il Leone in Rome. The title of this series of exhibitions curated by Rosi Raneri was “Staring at the Sun”. this gallery hosted Betty Ba's first major solo exhibition in the heart of Rome entitled “High Flight of the Shades”, which was very successful.

The artist used the residency to get to know other curators who had offered her the opportunity to take part in exhibitions. This led to her taking part in the exhibition “Making a Mark” curated by Monica Ferrarini at the renowned Palazzo Maffei Marescotti, a Vatican building, in June 2024, which was very well received. At the same time Betty Ba presented an overview of her current works entitled “The Secret Life of Colors” at the Galleria Arca di Noesis, very close to the Colosseum. From 20th September 2024 on she participated the running international exhibition, curated by Rosi Raneri in the Galleria Il Leone.

The artist was accepted as a curator of the Rome Art Week 2024, here on her real name Brigitte Bosch
